IB Magnet Application Requirements and Processes
- An online application must be completed in its entirety for the IB Magnet Pathway located on the Magnet Department’s website.
- Two current core subject area teachers must complete the recommendation form. Forms will be automatically emailed on completion of the application.
- Applicants must submit their attendance records, transcripts, and current academic records (including GPA, test scores, and other relevant information) with their application.
- Requirement: minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8
- Minimum 3.0 average per core subject area
- Score Mastery or Advanced on LEAP 2025 per core subject area
- All required documents must be uploaded.
Admissions into the HHMS IB Magnet Pathway (HHMS PDP): Year 9
HHMS PDP courses are intended to prepare students for the rigor of IB courses in grades 11 and 12; they should be taken by students who wish to later study in the IB Diploma or IB Career-related Programmes (11th and 12th grade). Students who wish to pursue the IB Diploma should apply to be in the HHMS PDP Program. Applications will be available online.
If you are interested in enrolling your student in the HHMS PDP Programme, please attend our HHMS IB Magnet Pathway Coffee Talks or call the school to schedule an appointment with the IB Coordinator. Applications for the next school year will open in the Fall. Please refer to the TPSS Magnet Department’s page for the application window dates.
Required Documents: completed application, 7th & 8th grade report, conduct and attendance information, standardized test scores, and two letters of recommendation from teachers.
Entry into the HHMS IB Magnet Pathway (HHMS PDP): Year 10

Entry into the HHMS IB Diploma Programme (DP): Years 11 & 12
(Students can only enter the program during year 11)
IB Diploma Programme courses are two-year, academically challenging courses developed to prepare students for success at university, and are an internationally recognized qualification. Students interested in pursuing the IB Diploma should ensure they possess the required knowledge and background expected of IB Diploma students.
All students interested in entering the IB Diploma Programme must complete the application process, submit an academic resume, and attend a planning conference with the IB Diploma Coordinator (the coordinator will schedule conferences). Parents and students are encouraged to attend the HHMS IB Magnet Coffee Talks as an introduction to the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. Meeting dates will be posted on the HHMS calendar and the HHMS IB Diploma webpage.

Entry into the HHMS IB Career-related Programme (CP): Years 11-12
(Students can only enter the program during year 11)
IB Career-related Programme courses are academically challenging courses coupled with an approved Career Related Study (CRS) in either Agriscience, Business: Digital Media, Culinary: ProStart, Early Childhood Development, JROTC, and Medical. Students interested in pursuing the IB Career-related credential must complete the HHMS IB Magnet Pathway application process, submit an academic resume, and attend a planning conference with the IB Coordinator (conferences will be scheduled by the coordinator). Parents and students are encouraged to attend the HHMS IB Magnet Coffee Talks as an introduction to the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. Meeting dates will be posted on the HHMS calendar and the HHMS IB Programmes webpage.
